Kerbau Menolong Buaya — Bab 1
Pada suatu hari, seekor kerbau berjalan sendirian di dalam hutan.
Tiba-tiba, Kerbau terdengar suara meminta tolong.
“Tolong! Tolong saya!” jerit satu suara.
Kerbau mencari dari mana datangnya suara itu. Tidak jauh dari situ, dia ternampak seekor buaya terperangkap di bawah sebatang pokok yang besar. Batang pokok itu menimpa badan Buaya sehingga dia tidak dapat bergerak.
“Kerbau, boleh kamu tolong angkat batang pokok ini?” tanya Buaya.
Kerbau berasa kasihan akan Buaya. Kerbau memang baik hati dan suka menolong haiwan lain.
“Baiklah. Saya akan cuba membantu kamu,” kata Kerbau.
Kerbau menggunakan tanduk dan seluruh tenaganya untuk mengangkat batang pokok itu. Sedikit demi sedikit, batang pokok itu terangkat.
Akhirnya, Buaya berjaya keluar.
Namun, sebaik sahaja bebas, Buaya terus menggigit kaki Kerbau.
“Aduh!” jerit Kerbau. “Mengapa kamu menggigit kaki saya? Saya baru sahaja menyelamatkan kamu!”
Buaya ketawa.
“Di dunia ini, kebaikan selalu dibalas dengan kejahatan,” kata Buaya.
“Itu tidak adil!” kata Kerbau. “Lepaskan kaki saya!”
Tetapi Buaya tidak mahu melepaskannya.

One day, a buffalo was walking alone in the forest.
Suddenly, Buffalo heard a voice calling for help.
“Help! Please help me!” cried a voice.
Buffalo looked for where the voice was coming from. Not far away, he saw a crocodile trapped beneath a large tree. The tree trunk had fallen across Crocodile’s body, leaving him unable to move.
“Buffalo, can you help lift this tree trunk?” asked Crocodile.
Buffalo felt sorry for Crocodile. Buffalo was kind-hearted and liked helping other animals.
“All right. I’ll try to help you,” said Buffalo.
Buffalo used his horns and all his strength to lift the tree trunk. Little by little, the trunk rose.
At last, Crocodile managed to get out.
But as soon as he was free, Crocodile immediately bit Buffalo’s leg.
“Ouch!” cried Buffalo. “Why are you biting my leg? I just saved you!”
Crocodile laughed.
“In this world, kindness is always repaid with evil,” said Crocodile.
“That’s not fair!” said Buffalo. “Let go of my leg!”
But Crocodile refused to let go.
