Buaya pun melepaskan kaki Kerbau.
Kerbau segera menarik kakinya lalu berdiri jauh sedikit dari Buaya.
“Sekarang, letakkan semula batang pokok itu seperti tadi,” kata Sang Kancil.
Kerbau menggunakan tanduknya untuk mengangkat batang pokok tersebut. Buaya kemudian merangkak ke tempat asalnya.
“Ya, saya berada di sini,” kata Buaya.
Kerbau perlahan-lahan menurunkan batang pokok itu ke atas badan Buaya.
Tidak lama kemudian, Buaya terperangkap semula dan tidak dapat bergerak.
“Begitulah keadaan saya tadi,” kata Buaya. “Sekarang kamu sudah faham?”
Sang Kancil tersenyum.
“Ya, sekarang saya sudah faham,” katanya. “Kamu terperangkap kerana batang pokok ini. Kerbau menolong kamu, tetapi kamu membalas kebaikannya dengan kejahatan.”
Buaya mula menyedari bahawa dia telah ditipu.
“Cepat, Kerbau! Tunggu apa lagi? Cepatlah pergi!” kata Sang Kancil.
Kerbau terus berlari meninggalkan tempat itu.
“Jangan tinggalkan saya!” jerit Buaya.
Namun, Sang Kancil hanya memandang Buaya.
“Kamu sendiri yang mengatakan bahawa kebaikan selalu dibalas dengan kejahatan,” kata Sang Kancil. “Sekarang, kamu menerima akibat daripada perbuatan kamu sendiri.”
Sang Kancil pun beredar dari tempat itu.
Buaya menjerit dengan marah, tetapi dia tidak dapat berbuat apa-apa. Sekali lagi, Sang Kancil berjaya menyelesaikan masalah dengan menggunakan akalnya.

Crocodile released Buffalo’s leg.
Buffalo quickly pulled his leg away and stood a little farther from Crocodile.
“Now, put the tree trunk back the way it was before,” said Mouse Deer.
Buffalo used his horns to lift the tree trunk. Crocodile then crawled back to where he had been.
“Yes, I was here,” said Crocodile.
Buffalo slowly lowered the tree trunk onto Crocodile’s body.
Soon, Crocodile was trapped again and could not move.
“That’s how I was before,” said Crocodile. “Now do you understand?”
Mouse Deer smiled.
“Yes, now I understand,” he said. “You were trapped because of this tree trunk. Buffalo helped you, but you repaid his kindness with wickedness.”
Crocodile began to realize that he had been tricked.
“Quick, Buffalo! What are you waiting for? Hurry and go!” said Mouse Deer.
Buffalo immediately ran away from the place.
“Don’t leave me behind!” cried Crocodile.
But Mouse Deer only looked at Crocodile.
“You yourself said that kindness is always repaid with wickedness,” said Mouse Deer. “Now you are facing the consequences of your own actions.”
Mouse Deer then left the place.
Crocodile shouted angrily, but he could do nothing. Once again, Mouse Deer managed to solve the problem by using his cleverness.
