Bab 6: Nak Kopi?
Pukul tiga petang, Jamal berdiri di sebelah meja Adlan.
“Aku nak minum kopi. Kau nak jugak?” tanya Jamal.
Adlan melihat cawannya. Cawannya kosong.
“Nak,” jawab Adlan.
Mereka pergi ke pantri pejabat.
Jamal membuat kopi. Adlan melihat kopi dan teh.
“Aku ambil teh,” kata Adlan.
Jamal melihat Adlan. “Kau kata tadi nak kopi.”
“Aku tak nak kopi sekarang. Nanti susah tidur.”
Jamal ketawa kecil.
“Pagi tadi kau susah bangun. Sekarang takut tak boleh tidur?”
Adlan minum teh.
“Ya. Malam ini aku nak tidur awal.”

At three in the afternoon, Jamal stands beside Adlan’s desk.
“I’m going to have some coffee. Want some too?” Jamal asks.
Adlan looks at his cup. His cup is empty.
“Yeah,” Adlan replies.
They go to the office pantry.
Jamal makes coffee. Adlan looks at the coffee and tea.
“I’ll have tea,” Adlan says.
Jamal looks at Adlan. “You said you wanted coffee.”
“I don’t want coffee now. I might have trouble sleeping later.”
Jamal chuckles.
“This morning you had trouble waking up. Now you’re afraid you won’t be able to sleep?”
Adlan drinks his tea.
“Yeah. Tonight I want to go to bed early.”
